About the event
Esa-Pekka Salonen conducts Boulez’s Rituel in memoriam Bruno Maderna (“the most sensuously appealing score of Boulez’s career,” The New Yorker) in an immersive production featuring L.A. Dance Project and choreography by the renowned French dancer Benjamin Millepied. Salonen also leads a pair of works Boulez championed during his tenure as the NY Phil’s Music Director: Bartók’s kaleidoscopic Concerto for Orchestra and Stravinsky’s Octet for winds.
Ticketholders to the October 11 performance are invited to Pierre Boulez: A 21st Century Legacy — a post-concert discussion in the Wu Tsai Theater with Esa-Pekka Salonen, former Juilliard provost and dean Ara Guzelimian, flutist Emi Ferguson, and cellist Jay Campbell.
